Activities and Curriculum
The main goal of my child care is to have fun, improve social skills, and encourage creative expression. I will utilize a variety of activities to accomplish this goal. My child-centered program includes language arts, math, science, creative art, dramatic play, music, sensory experiences and cooking. Free-play, reading, puzzles, games, preschool program, arts and crafts, computer learning games, and music and singing are examples of some of the activities your child will be involved in.The Kindergarten readiness curriculum is aligned with the Souderton Area School District standards.
I provide a preschool program from September – June for children 3 years old – Kindergarten. We use the Mother Goose Time curriculum (www.mothergoosetime.com). Each month we participate in activities related to themes. The themes include creative art, alphabet and language activities, music and movement, hands-on math and science, social activities and games. We will be introduced to three alphabet letters, one color, two to three numbers, and one shape each month. Activities will be adapted to the age and abilities of each child.
Kindergarten Enrichment
Our Pre-K curriculum is supplemented with the following:
Everyday Math Pre-K curriculum - This program is the beginning steps to the math curriculum used in the Souderton Area School District. This program embeds mathematics into the daily life of the classroom and builds on the mathematics that emerges naturally from children's play. This approach helps children develop a strong foundation based on experience and understanding.
Handwriting Without Tears Pre-K and Kindergarten program. The Pre-K curriculum develops coloring, drawing, counting, and handwriting readiness with a focus on play-based, hands-on readiness activities to build a foundation for lifelong learning. At the Kindergarten level, children review basic readiness and social skills and engage in play-based learning as they move to formal handwriting instruction. www.hwtears.com
Parents receive a monthly newsletter and calendar which will outline what we will be doing and learning.
